As a Middle School teacher I hoped to gain new insight on my student's age group, and "Yardsticks" does offer some comforting advice to teachers and parents. (It's not just me, it's their age!) It's a quick and easy read. I would have wished for more pointers and detail, but it offers an accessible overview.

The book is concise and easy-to-use, and has become one of the most frequently used books in my professional library.

It is especially helpful for teachers working with a new age group; administrators, "floaters" and substitutes who work with many age groups; and any professional looking for clear, concise information to share with families about the developmental needs of their children.
Parents, too, will enjoy this book. While it focuses on the children in the classroom, the content will ring true at home, as well!
