Product Description
A shrewd businessman, an outspoken maverick, and a generous philanthropist, Ted Turner's story is the stuff of legend. But what drives him? Where did he get such a powerful will to succeed? What has he learned over his illustrious life? Never before has the controversial businessman shared his personal story. Here, for the first time, he will.

From his difficult and troubling childhood to his hard-partying college life, from his vision of CNN to the drama and turmoil of the AOL / Time Warner deal, and from his ownership of the Braves to his news-making philanthropy, Turner spares no details of his extraordinary career and provides fascinating businesses insights along the way - many of which are sure to surprise.

Turner will also reveal the never-before-told details of his personal life. He frankly discusses a childhood of loneliness (he was sent to boarding school at the tender age of 4), the impact of devastating loss (his sister died at 17 and his hard-charging father committed suicide when Ted was in his early 20s). Turner also goes into great detail about his marriages, including his marriage to Jane Fonda, the "love of my life."

It's been a helluva life. Ted Turner truly is the great American maverick of our time. His story will educate, enlighten, entertain, and inspire - for the first time, Turner will tell the public how he went from being a young billboard salesman in the South to being the largest private landowner in the country. The release of this long-awaited memoir will be a major media event, and Ted's captivating story promises to deliver on the hype.

"A Ted for all Seasons"
Written By: Michael O'Hara
Ted Turner reveals himself as a lot more than the "mouth of the South." Funny, sad, insightful, tragic, uplifting and inspiring. He will always be a Ted for all seasons.
"Ted"

I really enjoyed learning about Ted Turner in his own words. From childhood to one of the largest land owners in United States you get the full story of his success to business "know how" with a personal side only the author himself could tell. I enjoy biography with good substance this is one of them. Learned how this driven man came to be and how he shaped his lifestyle to what it is today and how he got there.
"Quality of the content"

The book was pretty good so far as listing his deeds and transactions
during his life. Other than that, it was really not very entertaining.
Considering his resorces to provide a good book, I was disapointed.
The good stuff was very brief and the details of a lot of his business
transactions where over done and very boring. However, with basically
only a high school education starting outl, it was a remarkable story
of overcoming this. He educated himself by hiring whatever expert he
needed in any deal he had and educated himself using them. In the end
he was able to compete with any of the Wall Street experts except at
the end. Then the street and sharp CEO's stole his thunder.
"Well worth the $10"

I just got the Kindle. This was the fourth book purchased. This was was a great read and well worth the money. It's not a how to get rich book or a belabored, everything about Ted book (and his family and his friends and his dogs and cats (Snowball...Buffett...TMI)). This book was short and sweet. Very readable.

I felt as if it was written in Ted's voice with his direct input. At times I laughed out loud at what a nut he was. At other times I felt sorry for him and what he went through. In all, however, you get a sense of his highs and lows. To me, that's what's you want in a biographical piece.

I highly recommend it. I don't read all that much but this book was enjoyable.
"A Great Book To Learn About Business"

Call Me Ted

For anyone interested in business this is a good book to read. It tells how Ted struggled to get to where he is today and how you can't really gain anything if you are not willing to take big risks. A nice touch to the book are the "Ted Stories" because they give us another perspective of Ted.
